Arrive
in New Delhi, transfer by plane to Leh and installation in hotel.

Walk
in Leh and its surroundings. Overnight in Leh. |

By road from Leh to Kargil (by car, jeep or bus). Overnight
in hotel.

By
road from Kargil to Padum by car, overnight in a hotel.

From
Padum, to the monastery of Zongkul, almost 7 hours of hiking to
reach the monastery. The route follows the Stod river upto
the village of Alting (3600m) and then enters the valley of Zongka.
The monastery we find there was founded by the wise Naropa in the
11th century. |

From
the monastery of Zongkul to the base camp of Umasi La in 6 to 7
hours. From Zongkul the trek passes by Mulung Tokopo, using
a natural stone bridge which crosses a river, enters a valley with
many stone boulders making the passage difficult. Finally
it reaches a grassy terrace that marks the campsite. |

From
the base camp to the upper camp, in 7 hours. The Umasi La
rises to 5340m. Once we have crossed the pass, we have magnificent
views of the Himalayas Kishtwar. |

From
the upper camp to Suncham in 8 hours. This demanding stage
offers a descent by way of the glacier and splendid views of the
peak of Kishtwas Shivling. The overnight camp is in the surroundings
of the Suncham range. |

From
Suncham to Marchel (a 3 hour hike). This short stage allows
exploration of the Buddhist villages in the higher areas of the
Padar valley, as well as engaging sherpas for the rest of the trek.

From
Marchel to Atholi/Gularbagh (an 8 hour hike). This stage notably
crosses the villages of Shashut (2600m) and Gularbagh. The
latter has a very nice small bazaar. Atholi is a town with
schools and a police station. |

From
Atholi to Shoal (a 2 to 3 hour hike). Again this stage can
be shortened by following the road in construction in the Chenab
valley to Shoal (2400m). |

From
Shoal to Istahari (a 6 to 7 hour hike). This stage crosses
the small village of Tahri. Istahari is the last village of
the sate of Jammu and Kashmir before crossing into Himachal Pradesch.
Here one can see the Shopu Dhar line that marks the border. |

From
Istahari to Kilar (a 7 hour hike) Overnight in the hotel.
|

From
Kilar to Manali by jeep. Overnight in the hotel. |

Day
in Manali. |

Transfer
from Manali to New Delhi and your return connection. |
