Visit the old city of Srinagar and around Dal lake, overnight in house-boats.
On road to Pahalgam.
From Pahalgam to Aru, a 3 hour hike.  Although the walk follows a jeep track, this stage will be a good opportunity to try out your boots.  The village of Aru (2410m) has a number of interesting hostel rooms.
The stage to Aru gives you the opportunity to delve into the most picturesque part of Kashmir, that of the shepherds.  They are friendly and are in the habit of meeting trekkers.  You will also cross a pine forest and follow the Lidder river.
From Lidderwat to the glacier of Kolahoi (an 8 or 9 hour hike).  You start by following the river bed before the ascent to Satalanjan. As there can be snow, be appropriately equipped.  A little further, you reach the foot of the glacier.  The road to the peak of the Kolahoi is very demanding.  Return the same way.
From Lidderwat to Selkwas, Tar Sar and back. (a 9 hour hike).  The ascent to Tar Sar (3900m) can be dangerous, but is magnificent.  It is a demanding stage.
From Lidderwat to Pahalgam (a 5 hour hike)  If you want to be in time for dinner at Pahalgam, you only need to hitch a ride with a passing truck.
Return to Srinagar.  Overnight in house-boats.

Day on the water, water-trekking on lakes.  Overnight in house-boats.
