Life
in India:
It is different and seems upside-down, cliches are numerous,
needless to say, this earth is blessed. A mixture of
intoxicating perfumes, tropical heat, warm, friendly people,
a spirituality seemingly seeping from every pore of the body,
eternal snow, solitary paths, a country peppered with contrasts
that permits few mixed feelings - we like it.
Climate
and temperature:
India is a varied country in its climate, fauna, flora and
geography. We pass from the north, from some of the
highest summits on the planet (Nanda Devi, 7816m, in the Himalayas)
to the plains of the Ganges, Indus, Brahmapoutre, to the desert
in the west and of Rajasthan, and to the beaches of
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa ...
The temperature varies in the same way. Noting in particular
the monsoon season from June to October, in the more southern
latitudes.
Visas and other obligations:
In general a visa is required. Submit your request to
the nearest consulate or embassy of India and allow 15 days
for the formalities to be completed.
Health and vaccinations:
India has a different infrastructure to what you are used
to and therefore precautions are necessary; avoid drinking
water in any form (including ice) unless is from a sealed
bottle. Be careful in the consumption of fresh fruits
and salads, wash all fruits and raw vegetables carefully.
Dishes are often very hot and spicy which can irritate the
intestinal mucus of those who are not used to hot foods.
For
most destinations, diphtheria, tetanus and poliomyelitis
requires a revaccination every 10 years. Yellow fever
is not present in Asia and the Middle East and therefore no
vaccination is recommended.
Vaccination for Hepatitis A is advised.
